SLED: Witness says Columbia man kicked, struck victim in the head with a wooden brush

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A Columbia man has been charged with one count of abuse of a vulnerable adult following a November 2017 incident.

According to SLED, Charles Edward Alston, 56, was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

According to an arrest warrant, in late November 2017, Alston kicked and struck a man in the head with a brush while he worked as a human services assistant at Midlands Regional Center. The incident was witnessed by another employee and later reported.

Alston was also interviewed but denied the allegations.

The case will be tried by the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office.
