LAS VEGAS, NV (WIS) - A'ja Wilson is a name that WNBA teams and fans are starting to hear more often.
The former Gamecocks star has been making her presence felt in the pros and the league has taken notice. On Monday, Wilson was named the WNBA Rookie of the Month.
The ex-Heathwood Hall standout is currently averaging just over 20 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the Las Vegas Aces. In June, Wilson scored in double figures in all 13 games. She had 20 or more in nine contests last month and posted a double-double six times.
Right now, Wilson is sixth among all WNBA players in scoring. The Aces are 6-12 and are 2.5 games out of the final playoff spot with postseason play beginning on August 21.
Wilson and the Aces return to action on Thursday when they host the Chicago Sky.
