SC native becomes Fort Jackson's 51st commanding officer

FORT JACKSON, SC (WIS) - Fort Jackson has a new commanding officer at the top with the departure of Major General Pete Johnson, who leaves to become deputy commanding general with U.S. Army Pacific.

Brigadier General Milford H. "Beags" Beagle, Jr., from Enoree, SC, is now the 51st commanding general for Fort Jackson. Beagle, Jr. graduated from South Carolina State University and originally entered the Army in 1990 as a commissioned infantry officer.

Beagle, Jr. joins Fort Jackson for his second stint after serving as deputy commanding general of the 10th Mountain Division in New York. He previously served as the commander of the 193rd Infantry Brigade.

In addition to the Criminal Justice degree earned from SCSU, Beagle, Jr. has a Master's degree in Adult Education from Kansas State University and a Master's degree in Advanced Military Studies from the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
