FIRST ALERT: There's a chance for severe weather this afternoon

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A cold front moving into the state today will be the focus for scattered showers and thunderstorms, some with damaging winds.

There is a very slight chance of severe storms Tuesday afternoon into early/mid evening (roughly 3 p.m.- 9 p.m.).

"They'll be scattered and one or two possibly severe," First Alert Meteorologist Ben Tanner said.

Look for cooler temperatures (for the northern Midlands, much cooler with a northeast wind…a bit of a wedge may set up).

The Forecast:

  • Tuesday: Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, a few could turn severe late in the day.  Highs in the upper 70s
  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy, isolated showers and a few thunderstorms, highs in the lower 80s
