FIRST ALERT: Unsettled weather returns Tuesday

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

We are in First Alert mode for Tuesday with a chance that one or two storms could be severe with gusty winds and small hail. 

A cold front will stall out over us this week giving us isolated afternoon showers and a few pop-up thunderstorms. 

The shower/storm chance jumps to 50% mid/late afternoon Tuesday with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

"After 2:30 tomorrow is the best chance of when storms will develop and that will be the case through midnight," said First Alert Meteorologist Ben Tanner. 

The week will continue to be warm with highs in the middle to the upper 80's.

The Forecast: 

  • Monday: Partly cloudy continued very warm with a 20 percent chance showers and thunderstorms by late evening, highs to the middle 80's.
  • First Alert Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, a few could be severe with gusty winds and small hail, highs to the lower 80's.
