LCSD deputy welcomed home from torch run

A Midlands deputy is home with his family after spending the last 10 days representing the state leading up to this year's Special Olympics World Games.

Sgt. Lee Barrett reunited with his family and friends Monday. 

The Lexington County Sheriff's Deputy was selected to carry the "Flame of Hope" during its final leg.

Barrett and other law enforcement officers from around the world ran for 10 days through 49 towns and cities through Austria carrying the Flame of HOPE to the Opening Ceremony Saturday evening.

    A 64-year-old man, who had been reported missing by employees at his Blythewood business, was murdered by a Michigan man who was high on drugs at the time of the alleged killing, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a press conference Thursday.
