COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Columbia Police have identified a man arrested in connection with a double stabbing on Main Street late Tuesday night.

CPD investigators have charged Cornelious Williams, 30, with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of second degree assault and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to CPD, the incident occurred in the 1400 block of Main Street around 10:30 p.m. Investigators say Williams inappropriately touched a woman while she was walking with a man.

At that point, officials say, the man confronted Williams, who in turn pulled out a knife and stabbed the man several times. The woman, meanwhile, ran for help and found a security guard to help subdue Williams.

However, police say the security guard was also stabbed.

Both men were treated at a nearby hospital.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
