COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - South Carolina men's basketball is off to Costa Rica, the team's first summer overseas trip since 2008.
The Gamecocks, who'll be gone from August 6-12, will play two games against the Costa Rica National Team and have a day of combined practice with them while on tour.
South Carolina will hold two clinics while there, including one for the Special Olympics.
Gamecocks coach Frank Martin said the trip is a good opportunity for the returning players to bond with newcomers.
South Carolina brings back just two starters from last season in guards Sindarius Thornwell and PJ Dozier. The team went 25-10 and made the NIT, its first postseason tournament since 2009.
