Charlotte teacher accused of sexually assaulting students

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A Charlotte teacher is accused of sexually assaulting two students during the 2012-2013 school year.

Jarrett Murgulo, 35, was charged Tuesday with two counts of indecent liberties with a student and one count of sexual activity with a student. Murgulo is a teacher at Countryside Montessori School in north Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say two former female students told detectives they were sexually assaulted by Murgulo when they were seniors at Countryside Montessori School, during the 2013-2013 school year.

Mugolo voluntarily went to police headquarters Tuesday morning after the investigation was launched. Following being questioned, Murgulo was arrested and sent to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Countrysude Montessori School's website, Murgulo was a history teacher for 9-12th graders and the supervising lead teacher for 7th and 8th graders.
