Fireflies tickets go on sale Friday

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Single game tickets for the Columbia Fireflies inaugural season go on sale on Friday.

Columbia's minor league baseball team, a New York Mets affiliate playing in the South Atlantic League, begins its 70-game season in Charleston on April 7. The first home game in franchise history will be played Thursday, April 14 at 7:05 p.m. against the Greenville Drive at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia's new residential and retail area called The Commons at BullStreet.

Tickets for the 2016 season will be available on February 26 at 9 am at ColumbiaFireflies.com or via phone at (803) 726-4487.

The Fireflies will have a packed entertainment and promotional schedule including 25 fireworks shows, ten national entertainment acts, 11 theme nights and an opportunity for all kids in attendance to run the bases after each and every home game.

"Fireflies baseball is all about affordable family entertainment," team president John Katz said. "Our promotions and marketing team has packed the calendar each night with something for fans of all ages."

The Fireflies will feature different special promotions every day of the week. The daily promotions include: Military Monday, $2 Tuesday, Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, Post-game Autographs / Splash Day Sunday.

  • On Mondays, all military with a valid military ID will receive $2 off an all-star or reserved ticket (subject to availability).
  • $2 Tuesdays will feature $2 hot dogs, popcorn, and fountain drinks.
  • Budweiser Thirsty Thursdays will feature half-priced draft beer and fountain drinks, with an added pre-game Happy Hour at the Budweiser Centerfield Bar.
  • The Fireflies will light up the skies with post-game fireworks after each and every Friday and Saturday home game.
  • On Sundays, the ballpark will be turned into a waterpark with fun water games to help cool off fans. After Sunday games, fans are invited to stay and get autographs from the Fireflies players.

Additional promotions for the 2016 season will be announced in the coming months.

"Fans can attend any Fireflies game for as little as $5 on the Bojangles Berm," added Katz.

Fridays throughout the 2016 season will feature national entertainment acts and post-game fireworks. Saturday games will be a different theme, which will give fans an opportunity to dress up and experience the ballpark with a whole different atmosphere, concluding each Saturday with post-game fireworks as well.

"We are excited about our line-up for the 2016 season," Fireflies vice president of marketing Abby Naas said. "We have been working hard to get everything in place to create a memorable Inaugural Season at Spirit Communications Park. We view each of our home games is Opening Night for somebody, and want to make sure that the experience at each game is unique. You never know what you may see on our video board or who we may have invited out each game."

Gates to Spirit Communications Park will open 60 minutes prior to first pitch on Sunday - Wednesday games, Gates will open 90 minutes prior to first pitch on Thursday - Saturday games, and on the 4th of July.

Opening Day at Spirit Communications Park is April 14th. Individual game tickets begin at $5 for the Bojangles Berm, Reserved Seats are $9, and All-Star Seats are $10. The Fireflies are currently taking reservations for Season Ticket packages, including Full Season (70 games), Half Season (35 games), Quarter Season (17 games) and Mini Season packages (12 games).
