COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A new student apartment complex has been proposed near Williams-Brice Stadium.

Athens, GA based Dovetail Development, plans to build a 198-unit luxury apartment complex on 25 acres behind the Carolina Walk tailgating facility and University of South Carolina Football team's indoor practice facility. The same development company recently sold a similar complex on Shop Road that it developed in 2008.

The 17-building project called Wildwood Columbia will include a pool, clubhouse, volleyball and basketball courts, and an outdoor resort pavilion containing billiards, ping pong, Foosball and outdoor televisions.

The developer says rents will range from $650 to $740 monthly per bedroom, depending on the size of the unit. The project is expected to be done in time for students to move in for the fall semester in 2017.

Dovetail has developed upscale college apartment complexes in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Alabama and Louisiana.
