COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Officer Stacy Case was a compassionate, genuine, friendly, and all around good person, according to one of her good friends.
Casey Bell, a deputy in Barnwell, met Case in 2012 while they were in the police academy. One of the traits Deputy Bell says she loved the most about Officer Case was her genuine soul.
While in training, Deputy Bell says it was difficult being away from family. However, she says Officer Case always assured her that everything would be okay.
She says Officer Case was outgoing, the one who always lightened up the mood, and a hard worker.
"She was a genuine soul that's really there to help people," Deputy Bell says. " She was a hard worker, she was so funny outgoing, outspoken. She was just very fun to be around."
Case died while in the line of duty on Saturday while responding to a shots fired call on Gervais and Lincoln streets.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Township Auditorium.
