NEWBERRY, SC (WIS) - A well-known Latino pop singer is being accused of beating the owner of a skating rink in Newberry after he claimed he was not paid enough for an appearance.
Larry Hernandez was arrested without incident in Los Angeles on outstanding warrants from the Newberry Police Department on charges of kidnapping and third degree assault and battery by mob.
Hernandez, his associate, Jesus Solis, and two other men allegedly held the skating rink owner against his will and wrapped him in plastic wrap before he was beaten.
The incident, investigators said, stemmed from a disagreement Hernandez had with the owner over the amount of money he was paid for a concert at the rink back on Aug. 16, 2015.
Hernandez, a pop singer from Los Angeles, also starred in a television series known as Larrymania that documented his life as an entertainer.
The case has been turned over to the 8th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
