COLUMBIA, SC (TheBigSpur.com) - South Carolina center Alan Knott will be out several weeks with a high ankle sprain, according to head coach Steve Spurrier, who held his Sunday teleconference this afternoon.
Knott suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Gamecocks' 52-20 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday in Athens, Ga. The sophomore center did not return to the game in the second half.
True freshman Zack Bailey replaced Knott, his first career game at center. Bailey is expected to fill in during Knott's absence in the coming weeks.
"Zack had one or two low snaps, but did pretty good for the first time," Spurrier said. "He'll get all the snaps this week and should be ready to go."
The Gamecocks (1-2, 0-2) will host the UCF Knights (0-3) on Saturday at noon with a national broadcast either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
