RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Richland County officials are giving residents a chance to see plans to widen Atlas Road and comment on the project.
The project is on the list of road improvements paid for by the Richland penny tax.
The plan is to widen Atlas Road between Bluff Road and Garners Ferry Road. The proposal adds a left turn lane to the center of the road between Bluff Road and Shop Road, and add four travel lanes with a center left turn lane between Shop Road and Garners Ferry Road. Improvements include bike lanes and sidewalks.
A public hearing is Thursday, October 1 from 6-7:30 p.m. at A.C. Jackson Wellness Center, 2508 Atlas Road. County staff will present details on the project and take comments from the public.
The public comment period on the project is from October 1-October 16, 2015. Written comments can be submitted to Richland Penny Program during the meeting, mailed to P.O. Box 3427, Columbia, SC 29230, e-mailed, or faxed to (803) -779-4562.
