West Columbia mother killed in crash on I-77 Friday morning

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A West Columbia mother was killed in a crash on Interstate 77 near Fort Jackson Boulevard Friday morning.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim as Magdelene Anderson, 38, of West Columbia.

Trooper David Jones told WIS Anderson lost control of her SUV and went off the road, overturning several times. The crash occurred at about 6:11 a.m.

Watts said Anderson was not wearing a seat belt and she was thrown from the vehicle. She died at the scene.

Watts said Anderson leaves behind four children ranging in age from 4 to 14. 

Troopers shut down the southbound lanes for about two hours while they conducted their investigation. Southbound traffic was backed up to Interstate 20.
