South Carolina is home to the second "fattest city in America," according to a new study.
Obesity is a major problem in the United States. On average, at least 30.8 percent of the population is obese, according to the study form RentApplication.com.
The study examined data from the CDC and ranked the cities with with at least 50,000 people based on the most recent US Census.
The study found that Opelousas, Louisiana is the "fattest city in America." Orangeburg, SC, Hammond, LA, Saginaw, MI and Roanoke Rapids, NC round out the top five.
RentApplication conducted to study to examine the cont of obesity on America. Obese people spend 42 percent more on healthcare, according to the study. The estimated cost of obesity related medical treatments is between approximately $147 Billion dollars, RentApplication states.
