Description of suspect in fatal Beaufort Street shooting released

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Investigators with the Columbia Police Department have released a description of the man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old. 

According to CPD, the suspect is described as "a thin, dark-skinned black male with a medium height, last seen wearing a white tank-top style shirt and dark pants" with short braids or dreadlocks.

Officers arrived at the scene of the shooting around 1 a.m. at the corner of Beaufort Street and River Drive on Tuesday.

One officer quickly began giving aid to Timothy Gentry, who had been shot once in the chest. Gentry was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from the wound. 

The K9 units were at the scene following the shooting, but were unsuccessful in locating a suspect or suspects.
