NTSB investigators search for body of Cessna pilot

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WIS) - Search teams continue to look for the body of a pilot killed in a deadly crash between a F-16 from Shaw Air Force Base and Cessna C-150 Tuesday.

The Berkeley County Corner said the pilot and his father were aboard the Cessna that collided with the fighter jet Tuesday.

Coroner Bill Salisbury said Wednesday authorities have recovered to body of Michael Johnson, 68, the passenger in the plane. They are searching for the body of 30-year-old Joseph Johnson, who was the plane's pilot.

Tuesday afternoon county officials announced that those two passengers were flying from Berkeley County to Myrtle Beach when the plane collided with a F-16 in midair.

NTSB officials say he was not injured.

Federal investigators and local authorities have been combing through a wide swath of rural, sparsely populated land as they try to determine what caused the collision. The small Cessna was destroyed.
