COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Two-time Southeastern Conference player of the year Tiffany Mitchell will train with the U.S. national team at a mini-camp next week.
The national team announced Thursday that Mitchell would take part in training sessions in Las Vegas, Nevada, from May 4-6. U.S. national team director Carol Callan said the organization is continually looking at players who could help the American team beyond the next big event.
Callan said ex-Notre Dame star Jewell Loyd and former BYU center Jennifer Hamson were also invited.
Mitchell led South Carolina to its second straight Southeastern Conference title and its first trip to the Final Four. She was a first-team All-American this past season and won the Dawn Staley Award, which goes to the most outstanding guard in college.
