A former chairman of the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees is trying to prevent paying a huge amount of money for his conviction on corruption charges.

Jonathan Pinson's lawyers challenged prosecutors that he should forfeit around $350,000.

The defense argues Pinson should pay a much lower $74,000.

Pinson was convicted of 29 public corruption charges including racketeering and mail and wire fraud in connection with development projects in Columbia and Marion County, Georgia.
