COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Columbia City Council passed a resolution giving Wateree Community Actions a loan to help residents pay utility bills.
The $115,000 loan will be used to help those who need assistance paying electric and heating bills. Officials from the organization say they would not be able to continue providing aid without help from the city.
"We have citizens who are in the city of Columbia who need utility payments and the services this organization provides," Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine said.
Wateree Community Actions must pay back the loan by July 1.
