COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - As we continue to look into just what happened with a murder-suicide at the University of South Carolina on Thursday, our investigates team pulled information on other school shootings in the state, dating back to the 1980s.
We found there were at least 13 just in South Carolina. Those include seven deaths and 18 injuries.
Here are a few details from those in recent years.
Last month, there was an officer-involved shooting at Midlands Technical College's Beltline Campus when an officer was nearly run over by a car.
Willie Mincey was arrested in this case and charged with attempted murder, driving under a suspended license and giving false information to law enforcement.
More than a year ago in January 2014, SC State University junior Brandon Robinson was shot and killed on campus following an argument with another man.
Police charged Justin Bernard Singleton with murder the day after the shooting.
In September 2010, a fourteen-year-old student fired a gun at school resource officer, who suffered minor injuries.
Bomb squads later found two pipe bombs in the student's book bag, which he was wearing at the time of the incident.
Helms was sentenced in August 2011 to six years in prison with four years probation.
At Carolina Forest High in October 2009, a school resource officer, shot an autistic student.
The student was in a self-contained classroom and was asked to go see the SRO.
When in the SRO office, the student assaulted the officer with a knife.
The SRO could not get the child to stop, so in his defense, he fired his gun and the student died.
