Two people charged in armed robbery of food delivery drivers

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Two people have been arrested for the armed robbery of two food delivery drivers.

Timothy Akeem Beachum Jr., 17, and Octavia Amorette Gill, 26, were arrested by the deputies with the Richland County Sheriff's Department and charged with Armed Robbery.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says Wednesday, January 14, Gill placed a $50 order from Beezers Sandwich Shop and had it delivered to a 1909 Tall Pines Circle. Lott says once the victim arrived at the location she was approached by two male suspects wearing all black and presenting a handgun, the suspects stole the victims purse, money and food. The suspects then fled the area.

Then on Thursday, January 15, Gill placed an order from Tea Pot Chinese Restaurant for $50 and when the driver arrived at 163 Aster Circle he was flagged down by the suspect wearing all black.

The Sheriff stated that when the victim got out of the vehicle to deliver the food, the suspect presented a handgun and stole the victim's cell phone, food and cash then fled the area.

Lott said RCSD investigators followed up on significant leads and were able to identify Gill and Beachum as the suspects.

Sheriff Lott urges delivery drivers to:

  • Never carry large amounts of cash
  • Always have your cell phone near
  • Never deliver to an area that you do not feel safe
  • Make sure you deliver in a well lit area
  • Pay close attention to your surroundings

More arrests may be forthcoming according to Lott. Gill and Beachum are currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
