Protests planned in SC after Michael Brown Grand Jury decision

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Just hours after a Grand Jury in Ferguson, Missouri chose not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, several protests are planned in the Midlands.

Students at the University of South Carolina held a protest outside the Thomas Cooper Library in front of the the reflection pond at 1 p.m.

The Carolina Peace Resource Center has also scheduled a rally at the State House beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m.

"It's been said that a Grand Jury could indict a ham sandwich," Carolina Peace Resource Center President David Matos said in a release. "The failure of the Ferguson Grand Jury to indict Office Darren Wilson on any charges reflects the refusal of the St. Louis prosecutor's office to make a case."

Additional protests have been planned in Charleston and in Greenville.
