Gamecock parents at Senior Day celebration, player missed recognition

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

 When the parents of Drew Owens came to Williams-Brice Stadium to celebrate their son's Senior Day, in what could he his last home game of his Gamecock career, their son wasn't there.

Although he is a junior, Owens was recognized on Senior Day before the University of South Carolina game against South Alabama. The tight end from Charlotte, NC is eligible to forego his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. His parents were at the stadium waiting for him.

"We haven't found him yet," said Head Coach Steve Spurrier after the game. "His parents haven't found him yet."

Moments after Spurrier left the post-game press conference, he found out Owens had overslept. Saturday's game kicked off at noon.

South Carolina beat South Alabama to become eligible for a bowl game, 37-12.
