OSTROW LUBELSKI, POLAND (TVN POLAND/CNN) – Polish woman Janina Kolkiewicz, 91, who was declared dead, woke up in a funeral home.
"I do not know how it is possible. I examined her, she did not show signs of life," said the shocked doctor who wrote out her death certificate.
The doctor came to the house of Kolkiewicz on Nov. 6 and examined her.
"I found lack of pulse, checked the carotid artery, action of the heart, lungs, pupils. None had any reflexes. Typical symptoms. I was sure that the patient is dead," the doctor said.
The doctor was summoned by the family of Kolkiewicz when they noticed that the elderly woman was not breathing, and her heart rate was not noticeable.
The doctor wrote out a death certificate, and two hours later the funeral home picked Kolkiewicz up and relatives began to prepare for burial.
At midnight the same day, the family received a phone call from the funeral home informing them that Kolkiewicz was found alive in the cold storage room after spending almost 11 hours there.
Kolkiewicz returned home and is said to be feeling fine.
The prosecutor's office has started an investigation into the case.
