What's cooking for your weekend, folks?

There are so many great things to do, you may have a hard time deciding!

Check out our weekend picks below. Which will you choose?

Firefly Synchronization Viewing
Congaree National Park, Hopkins, SC
Suggested: 45 Minutes After Sunset
Admission: FREE

Only three species of fireflies native to the United States are known to synchronize, including Photuris frontalis, which can be found at Congaree National Park. This amazing display of bioluminescence only happens for a short time each year in only a few places, including CNP! This awesome nighttime light show is very easy to see, and is absolutely free! You can see the fireflies from the boardwalk just outside of the Harry Hampton Visitor Center. This display is best viewed approximately 45 minutes after sunset. Please remember that if you come out to see them, bring bug spray and a flashlight with a red mode, and refrain from trying to catch them, as this disrupts their display. Come on out and enjoy this rare occurrence. But hurry, because this event will be over in a flash!
