University of South Carolina suspends fraternity for alcohol violations

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The University of South Carolina has suspended a campus fraternity for alcohol violations during rush events.

University officials say Delta Tau Delta fraternity was on social probation when the violation occurred during recruitment events in August. A conduct process concluded in the fraternity's suspension.

The chapter withdrew its appeal to the Office of Student Conduct and the national organization of Delta Tau Delta closed the chapter.

The fraternity will be eligible to reapply for student organization status in August, 2018.
