Just in time, the SC Department of Agriculture holds its 5th annual Midlands Fall Plant & Flower Festival this weekend at the State Farmers Market. September's Haynes 4th Saturday Bluegrass Festival brings their season to a close and allows many of our bands that have performed at their monthly shows throughout the year a chance to get together for music and fellowship. The festival gets at 4pm with The Pinehill Ramblers. Other bands performing are Rabon Creek, The New Bluegrass Gospel Connection, The Carolina Rebels, Flatland Express and Jedd. word has it that The Poor Boy Cruisers may drop in with their classic cars, too. Bring your lawn chair and a hat, and plan to enjoy a great evening of music!
Singer and songwriter Anthony David brings his brand of soul, jazz and R&B to Columbia this week for Mo' Betta Soul Sundays! Dubbed Obama's "favorite singer," he is known for his collaborations with Grammy-Award Winner India Arie and his album 'Love Out Loud.' The Jmichael Peeples Trio will also perform new songs from their latest project 'Enigma.' As always, the one and only Preach Jacobs will host and deejay the event!
Enjoy an evening with The Impressions at Newberry Opera House this Sunday! Originally from Chicago, their repertoire includes doo-wop, gospel, soul and R&B. The Impressions are best known for their 1960's string of hits, which include "Bypsy Woman", "Talking About My Baby," Keep on Pushing," Never Let Me Go," and "it's All Right."
