USC's Reagan shut down, Mincey suspended

COLUMBIA, SC (TheBigSpur.com) Sophomore pitcher Josh Reagan has been shut down for the fall due to elbow tenderness. Reagan led the team in 2013 with a 0.36 ERA.

He appeared in 14 games with one start and had a 3-0 record in 25.1 innings pitched. Reagan had a standout summer with the Columbia Blowfish, compiling at 5-1 record and 1.59 ERA in 45.1 innings pitched.

The Lexington native is vying for a spot in the weekend rotation.

Senior pitcher Cody Mincey has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

Mincey went 5-0 last season with a 1.04 ERA in 29 appearances. He struck out 44 batters in 34.2 innings pitched. Mincey was vying for the vacant closer's role.

South Carolina will continue its scrimmages on Friday with times yet to be announced.
