The death of a twelve year old boy who was hospitalized after a crash on Thursday marks the third crash-related death in Kingsport this week.

The boy died at the University of Tennessee Medical Center Saturday morning.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon on East Stone Drive. According to investigators, the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban rear-ended a Kia Sedona minivan. The minivan then side-swiped a Honda CRV and hit another SUV head on.

The driver of the minivan, along with two children, ages 10 and 12, were seriously injured. The children were air-lifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where the 12 year old later died.

Kingsport Police said there were two other crash-related deaths this past week.

The first was on Monday when a car plunged into Fort Patrick Henry Lake. The other was on Friday when a driver who was not wearing his seatbelt was thrown from his truck at the intersection of Eastman Road and East Center Street.
