GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Zoo supporters and animal lovers gathered at the Greenville Zoo's giraffe exhibit Saturday morning as zoo officials dedicated a tree in memory of the giraffe which was recently stillborn.

A tree planting dedication was held for the giraffe, who officials have named "Roho" - which is Swahili for "spirit" at 11 a.m.

Zoo officials placed a plaque in front of an Overcup Oak that was planted on Friday in front of the giraffe exhibit.

The Zoo posted on their Facebook page that they hoped the dedication could "provide some closure for the many followers that were deeply affected by the loss and to offer the opportunity to learn more about giraffes and conservation."

Greenville Zoo's Autumn delivered the stillborn Roho on Aug. 20.

Zoo director Jeff Bullock said Autumn has been doing well since her pregnancy ended.

Autumn is currently being kept separated from the male giraffes, Bullock said, allowing her body to continue to get back to normal.
