MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's best barbecue will be chosen - and possibly eaten - during an annual festival at Myrtle Beach this weekend.
The title will be awarded during the ninth annual Beach, Boogie and Barbecue Festival scheduled to begin on Friday in Myrtle Beach.
The festival offers $13,000 in cash prizes to the winners of the competition that continues on Saturday. The event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, and proceeds benefit The Shriner's Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.
This year, the festival is being held on the Grand Strand campus of the Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
