Tropical Storm Cristobal may skirt South Carolina coast

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Tropical Storm Cristobal is finally starting to move since it's been at a standstill for much of Sunday and overnight.

As of 8:00 a.m., Cristobal was located at 24.7 N, 72.8 W or about 715 miles SW of Bermuda.  Maximum sustained winds are now at 60mph.

The storm is moving to the North at 3mph. The forecasted track will keep the storm out to sea, but some strengthening will take place over the next 24-36 hours with the potential of it reaching category one hurricane strength by early Wednesday.

However, the storm will be far away from the coast. Despite that, the storm, along with high pressure to the north, will make for strong rip currents along the entire South Carolina coast today through Wednesday.
