Woman charged for leaving 6 pets alone at home in Florence

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A 23-year-old woman left six animals alone at a her Florence home for several days without food and water, according to Major Carlos Raines with Florence Police.

Agne Vaitekonyte is facing six animal cruelty charges, according to police records.

A tip to the police station led officers to find three dogs and three cats abandoned, under-weight, and missing hair, police said. It appeared that some of the animals had been physically abused.

A neighbor told police when she realized the animals were left alone, she started feeding them.

Police say when they asked Vaitekonyte about the incident, she said she thought her boyfriend was caring for the pets.

Officers also noted that there was a slew of animal feces and urine all over the house.

Vaitekonyte is in custody in Florence County Detention Center, records show.
