SC State closes out fall camp with morning workout

The South Carolina State Bulldogs ended fall camp with an intense 90-minute workout on Monday morning as they set their sights on their season opener at the Palmetto Capital City Classic at 5 p.m. on August 30.

"The guys worked really hard this morning so we wouldn't have an afternoon practice," Bulldogs head coach Buddy Pough said. "Overall, we had a good camp and got a lot done in the past two weeks."

This season, the Bulldogs will look to defend their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship. To do that, they'll rely on a number of different players to step in and help the Bulldogs add another title to their collection.

"We are deeper than we have ever been on the depth chart this season," Pough said. "I am really excited about some of the young guys (newcomers) and of course of veteran returners on how they can help our football team during the upcoming season."

Like most college football teams, SC State is dealing with a few nicks and bruises as well as a few major injuries.

"I am concerned about a few of our players at this point," said Pough. "Some of our key guys have some injuries that I am worried about, but we are optimistic that we will have them back in time before the season starts."

The Bulldogs will return to practice on Wednesday.
