Hottest temps of the summer could come this week

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Summer vacation may be over for Midlands students, however summer weather is in full swing, and we may just see the hottest temperatures all season this week.

With high pressure in place and a southwest wind we're going to see a string of very hot days during the week ahead.

On Monday and Tuesday, you can expect for temperatures in the middle 90s with only a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

"Don't expect the rain to cool us off much," said WIS First Alert Meteorologist Tim Miller. "It'll just add to the steam bath already in place."

"Some drier air will filter in after Tuesday and with abundant Carolina sunshine look for upper 90s Wednesday and either side of 100 degrees for Thursday and Friday," said Miller.

The heat index in some places could be as high as 105 degrees.

Lows all week will not go below 70.

Stay cool!
