GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A 3-year-old is back with her family after police said she was left behind at a park in Greer on Thursday.

Lt. Jim Holcombe said the child was with Main Street Academy, which is a childcare center in Duncan.

According to Holcombe, a group from the center went to Kids Planet at Century Park and the little girl was left behind and found playing with another girl.

Police picked up the girl from the park and took her back to the station, where she stayed for an hour, Holcombe said.

The 3-year-old girl's grandfather called Duncan police looking for her and Duncan police contacted Greer police, according to Holcombe.

According to the police report, the guardian went to pick up the girl at the daycare but did not see her. When he asked employees where she was, they did not know she was missing and said she must be around somewhere, the report stated.

One employee said she knew the girl came back from the field trip because she remembered seeing the girl, according to the report.

The daycare owners were called to the police department but did not know all of the details about when and who went on the field trip, according to the report. The report said when they looked at the list of kids who went to the park, every name was checked for getting on and off the bus.

The school bus was seen leaving the park at 2:40 p.m., according to police. The daycare owners' list said they left at 12:30 p.m. for the park and arrived back at 2:45 p.m.

Police said they were called to the park about 4 p.m. after a witness noticed the girl alone.

Greer police said the girl was given to the guardian and wasn't hurt.

Police and the Department of Social Services are investigating.
