UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies were called to the Union County courthouse on Tuesday about an angry woman making a scene and after she was arrested, said she resisted officers, biting a jailer.

Union County deputies arrived at the courthouse about 10:45 a.m., responding to the clerk of court's office where they said they could hear a woman yelling inside.

Deputies said Deborah Barber, 31, was yelling and cursing the clerk and other employees. When asked to calm down, she replied, "It's freedom of speech and I can say what the hell I want to and they better give me my d*** money," according to the incident report.

Deputies told Barber she was under arrest, escorting her out of the office but she tried to pull away, the report said.

As officers removed Barber from the courthouse, they said she continued to yell, curse them and call them names.

Once they were at the county jail, deputies said Barber began arguing with a jail officer about him counting her money, refusing to cooperate with the search and booking process.

Officers put her in a holding cell, but she hit and kicked the door, so they placed her in a restraint chair, deputies said. While trying to restrain her, deputies said Barber threatened to spit on them, and then bit the tricep of an officer trying to secure her.

The officer was treated by the jail nurse for the bite wound before going to the hospital because she had broken the skin, according to the report.

According to deputies, the incident started when Barber went to dispute a payment she made to the court on her husband's behalf. The report said clerks employees said she became irate, yelling, cursing and said she would come over the counter and beat them.

Barber was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and resisting arrest causing injury to an officer.
