The sun is going to be hard to come by this weekend.
On both days, expect on and off showers with some thunderstorms mixed in. The showers will not be confined to just afternoon/evening. So, have the umbrella handy. The highs will top out mainly in the mid 80's with lows near 70 degrees.
Tropical Storm Bertha continues to pick up a little steam as it heads towards Puerto Rico.
It's expected to make landfall there during the day on Saturday with heavy rain and winds of 50 miles per hour. Fortunately, it should be moving fairly quickly and that will help to lessen the potential flooding. From there, it skirts the eastern Bahamas on Sunday and Monday. Then, it takes a pretty sharp turn out into the Atlantic.
Tuesday is when it's expected to be closest to our coast. At that point, Bertha will likely be several hundred miles out to sea. So, the only impact on South Carolina will be bigger than average waves which will produce rip currents.
