GREENSBORO, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The new quarterback for Clemson University traveled to Greensboro for the Atlantic Coast Conference Media Days, fielding questions about his role as starter and competition.

Cole Stoudt said he is not listening to any talk about Deshaun Watson, even though the chatter may only get louder.

Stoudt and Vic Beasley were the two Clemson representatives in North Carolina for the media event. Stoudt faces the tough task of replacing a legend in Tajh Boyd while holding off the up-and-coming Watson.

Offensive Coordinator Chad Morris said Watson will see the field in week one at Georgia, but Stoudt said he is fine with sharing snaps if it helps the team win.

"I am the starter, Coach Morris told me that, Swinney told me that, and that's what I'm relying on, so if he scores a touchdown, that's good, that's a team thing," Stoudt said.

Former Tigers quarterback Tajh Boyd agrees.

"At the end of the day, Cole can't be nervous when he steps on that field," Boyd said. "I know he's gonna be prepared. I know he's gonna be ready for it."

And the Tigers have big goals for the 2014-15 season.

"As long as we have a winning season I'm gonna be happy," Stoudt said. "I know we're all shooting for that ACC and National Championship. That's what we're striving for, that's what we're trying to do."

The Tigers' first game of the season is in Athens on Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
