Irmo Little League teams win state titles, advance to regional tournaments

Three Little League teams from Irmo went undefeated in their respective state championship tournaments for the right to represent South Carolina in regional tournaments.

Irmo's Little League softball team will head to the Southeastern Regional Tournament in Warner Robins, Ga., to begin play on July 24. The team is lead by head coach Brian Beatson and assistants Robin Broad and Doug Putlock. The team is making their second straight trip to the tournament.

The team roster includes Lauren Beatson, Janie Broad, Julie Anna Hilliard, Delaney Landry, Morgan McMahon, Kallie Overcash, Jillian Price, Kelcy Putlock, Megan Stolzenbach, Lauren Summers and Savannah Turner.

The Irmo Little League 9-10 softball team also won their state championship and are scheduled to play in the Tournament of State Champions, a double-elimination tournament, beginning July 26 at 3 p.m. against Virginia.

The team consists of Lexi Becker, Reagan Hooks, Delaney Lewis, Kinsley Lewis, McKenzie Lott, Tatum Meyers, Kendall Shealy, Alyssa Shull, DeAnna Sweat and Logan Urban. This year's 9-10 South Carolina team will be coached by Laurie Becker and assisted by Brandy Meyers and Jeff Lewis.

Irmo will also represent the state in baseball as their 10-11 team took the state crown to represent South Carolina in the Baseball Tournament of State Champions starting August 2. The team includes Matthew Becker, Benjamin Bledsoe, Nicolas DeMasi, Caleb Gallant, William Koerner, Anson Merrick, Jay Metts, Ryland Rychener, Collin Shealy and Jackson Smith. The team is managed by Mark Becker and assisted by Jimmy Metts.
