Police have charged a man in connection with a double shooting earlier this month in Goldsboro.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Daktari Harris following a short police pursuit in the 1100 block of Fourth Street.

The Goldsboro Police Department said officers attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by Tazaunear Williams around 11:14 p.m. on Thursday. Officers were able to stop the vehicle after a short pursuit, at which point Williams was charged with misdemeanor speeding to elude arrest.

Police also arrested Harris and 20-year-old Martiz Bradshaw, who were passengers in Williams' vehicle.

Harris was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by felon, and one count each of possession of a stolen firearm and resist delay obstruct an officer. He was later charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the July 9 shootings of Montana Best and Travion Lewis.

Bradshaw was charged with one count each of possession of a firearm by felon, possession of a stolen firearm and resist delay obstruct an officer.

Police said the arrests were a result of an "ongoing investigation into the recent rash of shootings that have plagued Goldsboro over the last few months."

Harris is being held on a $1.46 million secured bond.
