ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - Former Bainbridge Bearcat star James Butler will be inducted into the Georgia Tech athletics Hall of Fame this fall.

Butler was a two-time All-ACC First Team selection, and is fifth in school history for most tackles by a defensive back.

He was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation's best defensive back, in 2003 and 2004.

The Climax native and the other six inductees will be inducted during a ceremony on October 10 in Atlanta, and honored at the Yellow Jackets' game against Duke on October 11.

Butler went on to play seven seasons in the NFL, earning a Super Bowl ring in 2007 with the New York Giants.
