A Benedict alum will now lead one of the nation's historic sororities.
According to the Office of Communications and Marketing at Benedict College, Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson will be sworn in as the 29th International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha on Thursday during the organization's 66th Biennial International Convention in Charlotte, NC.
Wilson served as the sorority's national first vice president since 2010. She graduated from Benedict with a degree in business.
Since 2000, Wilson has served as the Senior Vice President for Mission Services at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago.
"It is with great Tiger pride that I will be part of this event to celebrate a Benedict alumna who has, without a doubt, become a 'Power for Good' in the world community," Benedict College president Dr. David H. Swinton said.
Wilson will serve four years as president of the 106-year-old organization serving over 265,000 members.
