Old Dunbar Road reopened after HAZMAT scene

Posted: Updated:

Public safety officials closed down Old Dunbar Road Monday night for about an hour from Burroughs Avenue to Highway 302 due to a HAZMAT scene.

According to the Lexington County Fire Service, no one was in danger as the possible hazard at the scene was unfounded.

Lexington County Assistant Fire Chief David Fulmer did confirm the situation was isolated to 1741 Old Dunbar Road. Fulmer said an ADT alarm went off in the building giving authorities reason to investigate.

While Old Dunbar Road was shut down, officials were able to allow UPS workers and trucks through the perimeter.

Fulmer said the road was scheduled to reopen at 12:45 a.m.
