Nine arrested for street racing in Myrtle Beach, according to police report

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police arrested nine men Saturday for alleged illegal street racing in Myrtle Beach, according to information from the Horry County Police Department.

An HCPD police report states that an anonymous complaint was received by Horry County Police that the men were meeting at the Sandlapper Car Wash located at the Old Waccamaw Pottery and would be racing on Highway 31.

According to the police report, an officer in an unmarked vehicle followed the group from the car wash to Highway 501 before the cars exited onto Highway 31.

After the officer observed the lead vehicle in the street race tap his brakes, the report states that all the vehicles started to accelerate just before officers initiated the traffic stop of all nine vehicles involved.

The suspects were taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center and held on $500 bond, according to information from jail.
