NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A man was killed Saturday morning when a car crashed into him while he was riding his bike, according to Horry County Coroner Tamara Willard.

Herminio Vasquez Mendoza, 33, of North Myrtle Beach was hit in front of 336 South Highway 17 in the Windy Hill area at 2:30 a.m.  Mendoza died of multiple traumas, according to Coroner Willard.

North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety have charged an Atlantic Beach man with Felony DUI resulting in death following the early morning accident.

Demetrius Cordell Hall, 24, has been booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.  He is being held on a $25,000 bond.

North Myrtle Beach Spokesperson Pat Dowling says Hall was driving a Nissan when he struck and killed Mendoza, who was riding a bicycle in a southbound lane in front of the Goodwill store.

Hall continued to drive a few blocks south before walking back to the scene of the accident where he was contacted by police.  Hall was given sobriety tests and found to be intoxicated.

Police took Hall to Seacoast Medical Center where a search warrant was served on his blood.  A blood sample was given without incident.
