COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Locally grown food will take center stage during the Palmetto Tasty Tomato Festival.

This is the fifth year Sustainable Midlands is hosting the celebration of locally grown food.

"We're connecting those farmers and the restaurants and making new connections that will hopefully help our farmers sell more in our local market," said Ryan Nevius, executive director of Sustainable Midlands.

Leading up to the festival, over 30 restaurants are taking part in the Tasty Tomato Restaurant Feast. It's a chance for restaurants to offer special meals made with locally grown food.

The Tasty Tomato Restaurant Feast runs through July 18.

Rosewood Market is one Columbia business taking part in the locally grown fun.

"Any given moment we're able to incorporate local ingredients and help support our farmers, we do that," said Marie Sutherland-Lawless, store manager of Rosewood Market.

The festival is Saturday, July 19, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at City Roots Urban Farm at 1005 Airport Blvd in Columbia.
